How to Apply Pressed Eyeshadow Powder: A Step-by-Step Guide
Pressed eyeshadow powder is a versatile and popular choice for creating a wide range of eye looks. Whether you're going for a soft everyday style or a bold, dramatic look, here's a step-by-step guide on how to apply pressed eyeshadow powder for the best results:
What You'll Need:
Pressed eyeshadow palette or individual pressed eyeshadow pans
GetSet Eye primer
Eyeshadow brushes
Makeup remover or wipes (for any clean-up)
A mirror
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Prep Your Eyes to eliminate color shifting on different skin tones
Start with clean eyelids. Apply a thin layer of waterproof GetSet Eye Primer on your eyelids to create a smooth base for the eyeshadow. This will also help the color last longer, color shifting on different skin tones and prevent creasing.
Choose Your Eyeshadow Colors
Pick the shades you'd like to use for your eye look. For a simple look, you can choose one color for the lids and another darker shade for the crease.
Swirl the eye shadow brush into the pressed eyeshadow powder to load the brush and tap off any excess. Apply a neutral, lightest shade all over the eyelid as a base. This step helps to brighten the eyes and create an even canvas for the other shadows.
Define the Crease
Choose a Medium or Darker Shade: Use a fluffy blending brush and dip it into a medium or darker eyeshadow shade (such as a warm brown, taupe, or a smoky shade).
Apply to the Crease: Place the color into your crease to define the shape of your eye. Use small, circular motions or windshield wiper motions to blend the shadow. Be sure to blend well to avoid harsh lines.
Add Depth to the Outer Corner
Use a Darker Shade: Choose a darker eyeshadow (like a deep brown or black or the darkestes color in the look you are trying to achieve) to add depth to the outer corner of the eye.
Apply with a Small, Dense Brush: Use a small, dense brush or a pencil brush to apply the shadow in a “V” shape on the outer corner of the eye. Blend it well to avoid any harsh edges.
Apply the Lid Color
For a vibrant pop, apply a shimmery or bold shade to the eyelid. Press the shadow onto your eyelid with an eye shadow brush, starting from the inner corner and working your way to the outer corner. You can also use your fingertip to apply shimmer shadows for more intensity.
Blend Everything Together
After applying the colors, use a clean, fluffy blending brush to go over the entire eyelid, including the crease and outer corner. Blend the shades seamlessly together, making sure there are no harsh lines between the different colors.
Highlight Inner Corner
Inner Corner Highlight: Use the same light shade (or a different one) to brighten the inner corners of your eyes. This makes the eyes appear larger and more awake.
Final Touches
Liner (Optional): Apply eyeliner to define your lash line. You can use Pretty Girl Kohl or Tattoo eyeliner depending on your preference.
Mascara: Finish your eye look with a coat of Full Out Mascara to define and lengthen your lashes.
Clean Up (Optional)
If there is any fallout from the eyeshadow under your eyes, use a makeup wipe or a cotton swab to gently remove it.
